What the Infinite Fusion Type Calculator does

Typing decides what a fusion is weak to, what it can safely switch into and which of its moves hit hardest. In Pokémon Infinite Fusion the typing depends on which Pokémon is the head and which is the body, so the same pair can end up with two different typings. This type calculator works that out for you.

  • Fuse two Pokémon to see the typing for both head and body orders, side by side
  • Damage taken from all 18 types, including 4× weaknesses, ¼× resistances and immunities
  • STAB coverage: which types the fusion hits super effectively with moves of its own types
  • Pick two types to check any type combination and list every fusion that has it
  • The full type chart for quick reference

How to use the type calculator

  1. Choose a head and a body. The results update straight away for both fusion orders.
  2. Read the damage grid. Red cells are weaknesses, green cells are resistances and grey cells are immunities.
  3. Compare the two orders. If one order has a 4× weakness and the other doesn’t, that’s usually the one to pick.
  4. Looking for a typing? Switch to Pick two types, choose the types you want, and browse every fusion that has them. Select one to open it in fusion mode.

The console buttons work too: up and down change the head or primary type, left and right change the body or secondary type, A picks at random, B swaps, and Mode switches between the two modes.

How fusion typing works

A fused Pokémon takes its primary type from the head and its secondary type from the body.

  • If the body has two types, the fusion uses the body’s second type.
  • If the body has one type, the fusion uses that type.
  • If the body’s type would repeat the head’s type, the fusion takes the body’s other type when it has one. Otherwise the fusion is a single type.

How dual-type weaknesses stack

To find how much damage a fusion takes from an attack, multiply the matchup against each of its two types.

Combining two type matchups
Against type 1Against type 2Result
2× weak2× weak4× weak
2× weak½× resist1× neutral
½× resist½× resist¼× resist
Any0× immune0× immune

This is why fusing can fix a weakness. A Pokémon that is weak to Ground can lose that weakness completely by fusing with a Flying-type body.

What the type calculator doesn’t include

The charts use typing only. Abilities such as Levitate, Flash Fire, Water Absorb, Volt Absorb or Thick Fat can change a matchup, and so can held items and field effects. Check a fusion’s abilities in the fusion calculator before you rely on a matchup in a hard battle.

Frequently asked questions

How does fusion typing work in Pokémon Infinite Fusion?

A fusion takes its primary type from the head Pokémon and its secondary type from the body. If the body has two types, the body's second type is used. If that would repeat the head's type, the fusion takes the body's other type instead, so it keeps two different types where it can.

Why does swapping the head and body change the typing?

The head and body give different types, so Pokémon A fused with Pokémon B can have a different typing from B fused with A. The type calculator shows both orders side by side.

How are dual-type weaknesses calculated?

The multiplier for each of the fusion's two types is multiplied together. Two weaknesses make a 4× weakness, a weakness and a resistance cancel out to 1×, two resistances make ¼×, and any immunity makes the damage 0×.

What does STAB coverage mean?

STAB stands for same-type attack bonus. Moves that match one of a Pokémon's own types get extra power, so the calculator shows which types the fusion can hit super effectively with moves of its own types.

Can I find every fusion with a certain type combination?

Yes. Switch to Pick two types, choose the types, and the calculator lists every head and body combination that produces that typing, sorted by base stat total. You can limit the list to fusions with a custom sprite.

Does the type calculator include abilities?

No. The charts use typing only. Abilities such as Levitate, Flash Fire, Water Absorb or Thick Fat can change a matchup, so check the fusion's abilities in the fusion calculator.
